Barcelona qualified for the knockout stage of the Champions League on Tuesday after a compelling 1-1 draw away to Inter Milan as a late leveller from Mauro Icardi disrupted the Catalans' ideal record in this season's competition.

"It was a decision shared by the team", Valverde said, per the Daily Mail. "He is not getting the minutes he wants but, in training, he works like the rest of the players".

However, in football, you never know.

"We're all so happy for Malcom", Valverde said after the match.

Messi still travelled for the game to show his support for his teammates.

The more high-profile the opponent, the better Barcelona have played.

Messi would have arrived back in Barcelona during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Racing onto Rakitic's pass and teeing up Suarez to tap in the opener at Vallecas was also Jordi Alba, who has been arguably Barca's best player this season.

Sport go on to write that it has been his desire to return which has been the key to his quick recovery.

Perhaps it will depend on how much Barca need him and, in that respect, messi's absence has been less pronounced than many predicted 15 days ago when he tumbled and broke his right arm against Sevilla.

"We even toasted with cava to celebrate the agreement".

Despite his desire to be fit for the match, Beits' manager, Quique Setien, has advised Barcelona to keep him on the sideline for the clash.

"I don't think that either one of them should force a move, nor will force a move".

"Any fall could provoke a serious problem that might have important consequences".

As such, there were cathartic scenes when, just two minutes after coming on against Inter, Malcom put a stylish finish to a counter-attack manoeuvre that began deep inside Barca's own penalty area...
