Toddler found dead in oven


Police took a person into custody after a baby was stabbed, placed in an oven and baked at a home in western Mississippi.

Bolivar County Sheriff Kelvin Williams tells local news outlets the 20-month-old girl had also been stabbed when she was found dead Monday night in Shaw.

Royalty had been living with her grandmother at the time of her death and it's unclear where her parents were.

Williams said Jones' brother found Floyd's body Monday night and called police in Shaw.

Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman Warren Strain said officials are still investigating the cause of the girl's death and whether she died before she was placed in the oven. "It's trying for us to come upon a scene and see a victim such as this", Sheriff Kelvin Williams said to Metro.

Police have not released the relationship of the person being held to the baby and do not know at this time when the crime happened, according our affiliate NBC station WTVA. The baby girl's body has been transported to the MS state crime lab for autopsy. 'This is one of the most frightful things I've seen in doing law enforcement.

A woman in Greenville, about 20 miles from Shaw, pleaded guilty to killing her 3-year-old son in an oven in March 2011.

Jones is jailed on $500,000 bail.

Neighbors told reporters that they rarely saw anybody leave or enter the home. "The hardest to see a child victim". Terri Robinson pleaded guilty to murder in 2012 in the death of Tristan Robinson.

'They found the child in the oven and called the Shaw Police Department who in turn contacted us to assist in a homicide investigation'.
