Pricing aside, the Apple iPhone XR gives up the one important feature that has now become a hallmark of every modern flagship smartphone - the AMOLED display.

Apple will today begin accepting pre-orders for the iPhone XR, which was among the trio of devices the company launched last month.

Apple has marketed the iPhone Xr as the "more affordable" iPhone for 2018. The 5.8-inch iPhone XS and 6.5-inch XS Max uses OLED panels. With this model, the prices total up to RM3291, RM3491 and RM3951 for the 64GB, 128GB and 256GB models, respectively. There is also the option of no-cost EMI from Bajaj Finserv. The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max have been available for a few weeks now with some pretty expensive price tags in the country.

The aluminium handset is available in white, blue, black, coral, and yellow, along with a special Product Red version. Just ahead of that comes a round of iPhone XR video reviews, these being the first offering the public a look at Apple's new LCD iPhone model.

Apple started sales of iPhone XS and XS Max long before iPhone XR, a natural move to push as many units of the pricey iPhones before the cheaper variant rocks the shelves.

The iPhone XR is available for preorder starting tonight at midnight PT (12:01 a.m. PT), and it hits stores on Friday, Oct. 26.

Apple suppliers have reportedly faced issues ramping up supply of the iPhone XR's Liquid Retina LCD display. However, the iPhone XR is equipped with a single 12-megapixel f/1.8 aperture wide-angle lens rear-facing camera.

In terms of size, the iPhone XR slots between the iPhone XS and XS Max. The phone is powered by Apple's latest six-core A12 Bionic SoC, coupled with a quad-core GPU, 3GB of RAM, and 64GB/ 128GB/ 256GB of inbuilt storage. The front camera also houses a faster Face ID system.
