A look at Master Trainers in Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee

There will a Master Trainer for every Pokemon species in the Kanto region.

In Pokemon Let's Go, there's one Master Trainer for each Pokemon in the game, and you'll have the chance to battle them all. The trainers will only battle Pokemon of their chosen species - so you'll have to bring a Charizard to challenge the Charizard Master or a Blastoise to challenge the Blastoise Master.

Each of the trainers will be marked by a small icon above their heads, showing off the Pokémon that they're a master of. The lack of focus on adventure, plot and battle has left an empty feeling with Pokemon Go. They each represent one of the Pokemon in the Kanto Pokedex. You'll need to train up each of your Pokemon to take on these tough challengers. The new games will introduce Master Trainers as post-game content as a way for players to prove that they are truly the best trainer in the world.

"Well you know in general, I always want to be kind of facing new challenges and trying to you know, do new things with Pokémon". Because these Master Trainer battles are true tests of you and your Pokemon's strength, neither you nor the Master Trainer will be able to use items during the match. The title can then be displayed in-game during Link Battles.

In case you missed it, we did a thorough hands-on preview for the game, which you can find here. Eevee are launching exclusively for the Nintendo Switch, on November 16th.
