LA Galaxy striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored against Toronto FC on Saturday night to reach 500 goals for club and country in his career.

But his 500th career goal in the USA left fans incredulous as to how he pulled it off, completing a roundhouse kick to convert an assist from Jonathan dos Santsos to pull one back for the California team after they went 3-0 down.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored via a roundhouse volley, flicking the ball past the helpless Alex Bono in goal. The goal cut the deficit to 3-1 and sparked a three-goal Galaxy rally but the defending MLS champions would go on to win 5-3 in front of a crowd of 30,700 at BMO Field in Toronto.

At worldwide level for Sweden, he made 114 senior appearance and scored 62 goals.

Ibrahimovic, 36, left Manchester United to join the Galaxy at the start of the 2018 season and now has 17 goals in 22 appearances for LA.

His tally of club goals now stands at 438 including strikes for Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, PSG, AC Milan and Manchester United. "Obviously it's not good to lose ... but I'm happy for Toronto because they'll be remembered as my 500th victim", he was quoted as saying to TSN after the match. The maverick Swede has scored all sorts of goals. "It reminds me of a goal I did in Ajax", he said.
