Natasha Howard added career-high 29 points and 14 rebounds for the Storm. "We all know that we're happy and we're proud of where we were at, but we want to be better and I don't think you have to say that".

Joining Stewart (195 points) and Taurasi (179) on the All-WNBA First Team are Dallas Wings center Liz Cambage (190), Washington Mystics forward Elena Delle Donne (184) and Atlanta Dream guard Tiffany Hayes (138).

"I told somebody, I'm built for this and I mean that", said Stewart, who won four NCAA titles at the University of CT.

The Mystics, in their first Finals in franchise history, were far from disgraced rallying from 18 points down to trail 72-67 with 6:49 remaining. After losing a combined 39 games in her first two seasons, including a pair of single-elimination playoff losses, the perennial victor knew it was time for a change.

The answer came almost four months later with a championship. Even though it hadn't been in the WNBA yet, she clearly knows what it takes, and sometimes it just takes a couple of years to really figure out yourself in this league because it's a very tough league to play in, and now here she is.

She became the sixth player in WNBA history to be named regular season and Finals MVP in the same year, joining last year's victor Sylvia Fowles (2017), former Storm star Lauren Jackson (2010), Phoenix's Diana Taurasi (2009) and a pair of legends in Lisa Leslie (2001) and Cynthia Cooper (1997, 1998). "I think everybody knows". But at 37, the question seems to always linger for the league's oldest player - how much longer will we get to see her do things like this?

"We understand that the difference here is we have a chance to win a championship and not just advance to the next round", Bird said.

The two All-Stars on the team, Delle Donne and Toliver, had a cute moment at the podium minutes after their season ended when discussing the budding chemistry the team has had over the past two years when the pieces first came together. And after two years of losing, she was ready to win her first title and make sure that it isn't her last.

ED: "To get her - trust me, I know, I've got you, Panda. We're only out there on the court a little bit of time together, but the moments that we spend hanging out in the airport, playing 'would you rather, ' hanging out, getting dinner together, those are the moments that are so special, and what we're actually probably going to miss the most now that this season has ended". Now I can go to the bar and order her everything she needs. "I felt more and more uncomfortable as we kept going".

Washington shot 43.5 percent from the field (30 of 69) but was 8 of 23 from beyond the 3-point arc. Poor perimeter shooting contributed. Starting with a Stewart 3-point play, Seattle countered with eight consecutive points and pulled away. "And we get to build on it for these next three games".
