Nick Carter sexual assault charge dismissed


The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office on Tuesday announced it would not be pursuing a charge of sexual assault against Backstreet Boy singer Nick Carter.

She said that Carter then demanded she perform oral sex on him before taking her to his room and raping her despite her allegedly telling him she was waiting until marriage to have sex.

Schuman claimed that Carter raped her in 2003 when she was 18 and Carter was 22, according to TMZ.

In a statement to, he said at the time: 'I am shocked and saddened by Ms. Schuman's accusations.

He said: "God give us peace during this time. We went on to record a song and perform together, and I was always respectful and supportive of Melissa both personally and professionally", he said.

The charge evaluation worksheet states that "the reporting party" alleged that in 2003, she was the victim of a sexual assault perpetrated by the suspect in his apartment.

Nick is now on a solo tour of South America and Mexico, and was scheduled to perform in Lima, Peru, on Monday night in what was the final night of the jaunt, and, while the 38-year-old initially contemplated cancelling the gig, tweeting: "I don't think I can perform tonight".

Prosecutors concluded that because of the amount of time that had passed, a proper analysis of strengths and weaknesses of evidence could not be achieved.

His lawyer, Michael Holtz, said in a statement: "Nick has denied these allegations ever since he first learned of them past year, and was confident the district attorney would conclude that there was no basis to pursue charges against him". "It gives me great solace to know that my testimony is fully documented, investigated and sealed for the future if needed by law enforcement ..."

Nick Carter's wife has suffered a miscarriage, the Backstreet Boys singer announced on Twitter Monday.
