What was billed as a battle between two of the league's most lethal three-point shooting teams turned into a one-sided display for the Storm.

The Storm closed things out in game three, behind a whopping 30 points from Stewart - who won the Finals MVP Award. She had 13 points, four assists and four rebounds in Sunday's game cheered on by the Storm's fans. Atkins cemented herself as the Mystics' starting three with her speed and defensive effort, and it didn't hurt that she averaged 20.1 points per 40 minutes in the regular season.

It was also reported that Mystics star Elena Delle Donne was a guest on the next episode of LeBron's HBO show 'The Shop.'

As bedlam burst and champagne poured, Breanna Stewart stood tall inside the cramped, plastic-lined visitor's locker room and allowed herself a smile of gratification.

Stewart was a unanimous choice to the all-WNBA first team, the league announced Wednesday, while fellow UConn graduate Taurasi of the Phoenix Mercury extended her own record with a 10th first-team selection.

They have a superstar in Delle Donne and ascending players at most positions. Washington went from winning 13 games in 2016 with a.382 win percentage to finishing as runner-ups in the WNBA Finals in a year in which they won almost two-thirds of their games. "It's a shame we couldn't give them one more home game but I feel good about this team going forward and we're a full year ahead of schedule", Coach Thibault said proudly.

Inheriting a team that had finished 15-19 and 16-18 the previous two years, but dripping with talent, he instilled a defensive mindset and placed his trust in the players. "I didn't even know [Toliver's] favorite beer".

Bird was a linchpin in 2004, when the Storm took their first title, and a stalwart in 2010, when they won again. While players haven't been shy about standing up for themselves, they've gotten some help from their National Basketball Association counterparts this year, which is enormous given the men's game's meteoric rise both at home and overseas over the last half decade. Beyond the obvious, the circumstances of a venue change (thanks, Drake and Migos), the rise of the Washington Mystics in a short period of time has been nothing short of remarkable.

"Obviously, this finals didn't go the way we wanted it".

KT: "I'm going to need a lot tonight". Stewart had 25 points in each of the first two meetings but was held to 10 in the final matchup. It was a convincing 98-82 win for Seattle to capture the franchise's third championship in history.

ED: "To get her - trust me, I know, I've got you, Panda".

Tierra Ruffin-Pratt sank a three-pointer with 6:49 left to cut Seattle's 16-point lead to five (72-67).

For Bird, the season was proof that she made the right decision a few years back when her contract was nearing its end. "This is probably going to be one of the most defining moments of my career", Bird said Wednesday night.
