Arsenal manager Unai Emery is desperate to see his side play with "personality" when they make the long trip up to Newcastle United on Saturday.

Newcastle United are without a win in their second season back in the Premier League.

The France global made his first start of the season in the 3-2 win at Cardiff before the worldwide break and made a decisive contribution by setting up Aubameyang's first goal of the season, before scoring a late victor.

"In his career, he played like a No. 10 and on the right coming in with his quality", Emery said.

The midfielder was criticised for posing for photographs with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the build-up to the World Cup, which saw 2014 champions Germany knocked out at the group stage.

Also available are Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mohamed Elneny who were away to worldwide duties with Gabon and Egypt. But Emery is hoping the extra rest and training sessions during the worldwide break - the first since Ozil announced his retirement from Germany - will help the star midfielder find his feet again.

"For Mesut it is important, for me also, (to have) this focus every day with us".

Defender Nacho Monreal revealed on Wednesday he is in negotiations with Arsenal over a new deal, and Emery said the club "need" to secure the left-back's place at the club.

Emery insists he has had no talks about Gazidis leaving. "I don't know any other news from him".
