Wade is coming back to the Miami Heat, announcing Sunday that he's returning for a 16th and final National Basketball Association season.
Expect many players to pay homage to Wade over the course of his final year.
"I've always did things my way", Wade said in a video posted on Sunday evening. "And I'm going to give it, everything else that I have". A person familiar with Wade's thinking told The Associated Press that the guard was strongly considering retirement until late last week, when Heat coach Erik Spoelstra and others made a late push to help him decide.
Wade said his decision to play in 2018-19 was "bigger than the game of basketball". I feel like my family have put me first for so many years, for good reasons.

Wade made the announcement via his Twitter account and in doing so set up a farewell tour for the season. He spent the beginning of last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, prior to being shipped to Miami at the trade deadline. The Heat also come to D.C. for a preseason game on October 5, though it would not be a surprise if Wade sits that one out.
"With him not being there previous year, that was it", Wade admitted.
"These things to you guys may seem small", Wade said.
The plan going into this season will be to keep Wade in that reserve role, probably somewhere between 20 and 25 minutes per game. But I ask y'all, let's enjoy it. Let's have some joy for this last season.
After spending the entire summer considering his National Basketball Association future, Dwyane Wade has finally come to a decision.
