'Supergirl' Movie In the Works from Warner Bros. & DC Comics

The launch of "Supergirl" comes eight months after Warner Bros. promoted Walter Hamada to oversee its comic book movies, a month after the studio made a decision to replace Jon Berg and Geoff Johns as the heads of the DC movies.

WHO DO YOU THINK should play Supergirl in the upcoming movie?

The character is now being played by Melissa Benoist in The CW's series Supergirl, though this is a separate project. His versatility will only increase with the script for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie, as well as a return to his roots with the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot film. Apparently, the intention here is to inject a little life - and maybe levity - to the next movie venture of Cavill's Superman after a major behind-the-scenes overhaul of personnel in the aftermath of the lackluster performance of last fall's Justice League; a monumental financial failure that arrived after the lucrative and culturally groundbreaking success of the Gal Gadot-starring Wonder Woman just a few months earlier.

Regardless, things are still quite chaotic over at the DCEU, which is scrambling with spinoff plans, trying to recreate Wonder Woman's magic with the other properties. Director Todd Phillips' new Joker film is slated for October 4, 2019 and Patty Jenkins' sequel Wonder Woman 1984 hits theaters on November 1, 2019. After that, there's the unrelated Todd Phillips Joker movie, the Flash movie (finally), and Birds of Prey, all of which are likely to come before Matt Reeves' Batman film. When the town is doomed, Kara is sent to Earth by her parents to be raised by her cousin Kal-El, known as Superman. There is no producer attached to the project yet, and none of the juicy details that DC fans would want to know have been released - such as if/how the film is connected to the larger DC Extended Universe franchise, or if Henry Cavill's Superman (or another version?) will be making an appearance. It looks like Supergirl is getting her own Warner Bros. movie.
