Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Casts Ben Schwartz and Jim Carrey As Leads

Standard Sonic stuff then.

In case you didn't know, a live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie (which will mix CGI with real life footage) is in the works.

Schwartz has voiced Dewey Duck on Disney Channel's reboot of Duck Tales and is also voicing Leonardo in Nickelodeon's Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Ben Schwartz, famous for playing the obnoxious "pick-up artist and baller" Jean-Ralphio on Parks And Recreation has been picked to voice the titular speed demon in the live-action/animation hybrid Sonic The Hedgehog. If he can put on a convincing Southern drawl, maybe he'll voice Huckleberry Hound for Hanna-Barbera.

"Magic!" Carrey shouted. "Mixed with desperation". Jim Carrey was previously announced as the classic villain Doctor Robotnik, with James Marsden and Tika Sumpter rounding out the cast. Hopefully we'll be hearing more about this perplexing movie as production continues. Deadpool director Tim Miller is also serving as executive producer with Toby Ascher.

The Sonic movie is being directed by Jeff Fowler, whose 2005 animated movie Gopher Broke was nominated for an Oscar. The film is now scheduled to hit theaters on November 15, 2019, so stay tuned for more.
