Each system will have a commemorative copper plate on its front with its limited edition serial number etched on. Keep your eyes peeled for these "extra special" serial numbers like 09995 (U.S. Launch Date of the original PlayStation - September 9th, 1995), 01115 (U.S. launch date of PS4 - November 15, 2013) and 01013 (U.S. launch date of PS VR - October 13, 2016). The one you buy might even feature the PS4 USA release date serial number 01115, or 01013 for the PSVR launch date. What makes it special is the translucent dark blue casing with matching DualShock 4 wireless controller.

If you're going to pick one up, be prepared to plop down $499.99 - it's not exactly cheap, but it's also worth keeping in mind that Sony is only making 50,000 of these.

All of the hardware, including the console itself, will go on sale from August 24, with pre-orders starting at most major retailers at 10am Tuesday, August 14.
