Mourinho Expects "No" Players To Sign For Manchester United Today

United look set to go through the full transfer window without signing a centre-half, in spite of Mourinho's well-documented desire to add a high-profile central defender to his ranks.

Jose Mourinho has taken aim at Liverpool and Tottenham on the eve of the new season, saying they "win nothing" but are painted as "serial winners" while his Manchester United get no credit.

The transfer window may officially shut at 5pm on Thursday but Blackpool and Fleetwood can still be active in the transfer market thanks to an EFL rule.

"I'm not confident, I'm not confident and the market closes today so is time at least for me to stop thinking about the market because the market will be closed".

The striker turned broadcast pundit believes Liverpool's mental edge over City following three victories against them last season - twice in the Champions League and once in the league - could be the difference if City do not runaway with the title in the manner they did last season.

Asked whether he he believed there would be any movement in or out of Old Trafford on deadline day, Mourinho replied: "The information I have is no".

Mourinho revealed he will be without six senior players for the game against Leicester. 'When I listen, when I read, it's hard to believe we finished second because you are capable of making people who finish second (sound like we) were relegated.

"Is hard for me to understand, to feel, to believe we finish second - which I keep saying, and it is sometimes hard to believe, that I won eight championships and three Premier League's but I keep feeling the second last season was one of my biggest achievements in the game".

"They returned on Monday, trained Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and today so you can imagine they are not really fit and ready but we have needs", Mourinho said.

"Because it is very important their feeling and to understand how they think they can help or not help". The tactics to be changed in Championship Manager you can just press a button. In football you need time to work and players on the pitch to work and we didn't have that until now.

"I have to focus on the players that are available".

I've spoken to Pep twice on Sky since the end of the season, we did a programme the other day with Dave Jones and Jamie Carragher asking questions.
