Everton swoop for season-long loan signing of Chelsea defender

Keane missed just eight Premier League matches in his debut season on Merseyside and having a strong, established central defensive partner alongside him should help the four-cap player to return to his best form and possibly force his way back into the England set-up.

In case you didn't know.

. He was linked to Manchester United and West Ham United this summer. Now, it seems they have set their sights on Chelsea outcast Zouma.

Everton manager Marco Silva confirms that a loan deal to bring Kurt Zouma to the club from Everton is "almost done".

The deal in principle makes sense for both parties.

Chelsea, however, do not appear too keen to sell to an immediate rival and it remains to be seen how the deal moves forward.

Zouma signed for Chelsea from Saint-Etienne for £12 million in January 2014, moving to Stamford Bridge six months later and establishing himself as a regular under Jose Mourinho until an ACL injury in Fabruary 2016 derailed his progress.

The deal sheet for the loan agreement was submitted to the Premier League before the 5 p.m. deadline on Thursday, giving Everton and Chelsea extra time to finalise the details.

The United boss is hoping to sign at least one more top class player today with a centre-back the priority and the Manchester giants have reportedly failed to agree terms for the likes of Harry Maguire, Toby Alderweireld, Jerome Boateng and Yerry Mina in recent weeks.
