It was a busy transfer deadline for Everton as they bought Yerry Mina from Barcelona for a fee of around £27 million with a buy back option inserted from the La Liga champions.

Barcelona should consider a way of formally honouring Everton this summer as the Premier League side have become a valued customer at the Camp Nou, sending a total of 52.6 million euros to the club in exchange for players that Ernesto Valverde was keen to offload.

Gomes joins former Barcelona team-mates Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina, both signed permanently for a combined £45m, at Goodison Park. I am also determined to do my best for Everton. The Colombian defender completed a dream move to Barcelona in the January transfer window, but could never manage to establish himself as a regular in the first-team squad.

Gomes has always been a fringe player at Barcelona, despite signing for a fee of £31m plus €20m in add-ons in 2016, with only 46 appearances made in La Liga since joining from Valencia.
