Emma Stone & Jonah Hill Face Multiple Realities in First Trailer for 'Maniac'

Not a whole lot more than that has been revealed about the series so far, but if the trailer is anything to go by there's going to be mind bending sequences spanning multiple time periods, brains that don't "work right", and actually a bit of light hearted comedy too.

Netflix has released the first full trailer for their highly anticipated new series Maniac, and it looks wild.

The cast will also reportedly include Justin Theroux, Sally Field, Julia Garner, Jemima Kirke and Sonoya Mizuno.

What do you think of this first trailer? Netflix tends to be great at series, not so great at movies.

Are you looking forward to seeing what Netflix's Maniac is all about? Participants in the medical trial - including Jonah Hill as the schizophrenic Owen and Emma Stone as the dissociative Annie - are given experimental treatments which seem to transform their senses of place and their senses of self.

Stone's character, Annie, is drawn to the trial due to questionable familial relationships, whereas Hill's character, Owen, says that he wants to take part following a disputed diagnosis of schizophrenia.

Directed by True Detective and Beast of No Nation's Cary Joji Fukunaga, and debuting exclusively on Netflix as a limited-edition 10-episode series, Maniac is a remake of a 2014 Norwegian show of the same name, and concerns two strangers (Hill and Stone) who find themselves participating in a psychological experiment conducted by Justin Theroux's researcher.

Annie's disaffected and aimless, fixated on broken relationships with her mother and her sister; Owen, the fifth son of wealthy NY industrialists, has struggled his whole life with a disputed diagnosis of schizophrenia.
