Colorado Mother and Two Daughters May Have Been Strangled

Heartbreaking social media posts from earlier this year show Mrs Watts lavishing praise on her husband. They shared photos of beach vacations to San Diego and screengrabs of lovey-dovey text messages.

Merson also requested that DNA samples be taken from Shanann Watt's hands and nails along with the children's nails. Watts initially said they disappeared, but authorities arrested him Wednesday after they said he confessed to killing his pregnant wife and two daughters. You spoil us with love an attention! "You put up with 3 impatient, demanding women in the house", she continued. You Work so hard everyday to provide for us. "I love you so much".

The mother, who was pregnant, and daughters vanished Monday from their suburban Denver home. Shanann's body was found at the oil and gas refinery where Chris worked in Colorado.

He is scheduled to appear next in court at 10 a.m. on August 21, during which time the charges will be read.

Police have not released any information about a motive or how the three were killed. Their bodies were found on Thursday, and Friday was the first time the community held a vigil in honor of the beloved family. But they also had tens of thousands of dollars in credit card debt, along with some student loans and medical bills - for a total of $70,000 in unsecured claims on top of a sizable mortgage.

A close friend Ashley Bell said the gender reveal party was supposed to be held at the Watts' family home on Saturday.

Frankie Rzucek, who is identified on Shanann Watts' Facebook page as her brother, posted overnight on his page saying he just wanted "to know why".

An unidentified friend told KDVR that she dropped off Shanann Watts at home about 2 a.m. Monday after they returned from a work trip, and watched her go into the house.

In the latest court motions filed Friday, Watts' attorney is asking for DNA samples to be taken from the two girls.

According to a report in 9News, the suspect's defense attorney James Merson filed a motion seeking DNA evidence from the remains found at Anadarko Petroleum, indicating that Watts is believed to have strangled his wife and two little girls.

Police said they conducted a welfare check after Watts' friend called and requested one.

That expert, Richard Eikelenboom, stated, "I have a lot of experience taking samples from dead bodies getting good results after strangulation".

It wasn't immediately clear if the judge ruled on the motions. The document cites an expert who argued that DNA would still be present on the bodies - even though they had been submerged in crude oil for four days before they were found - but that evidence would be lost once the autopsies were performed.

Jeremy says he didn't see something like this from Chris.

Wednesday night, Chris was arrested on suspicion of three counts of first-degree murder, and three counts of tampering with deceased bodies.

Authorities are expected to file formal charges Monday against Watts, an oil and gas worker who authorities said dumped his wife and daughters' bodies on his employer's property.

Authorities believe that Shanann Watt's husband, Chris Watts, killed her and the couple's two young daughters.
