Barcelona rope in midfielder Arturo Vidal

"Aleix Vidal is travelling to Barcelona today with permission from the club to settle his future", a tweet from the Barcelona's official account read.

"The player from Puigpelat ends his time at Barca after three seasons, from 2015/16 to 2017/18, and returns to the club he was signed from".

"Barcelona will shortly inform everyone about the arrival of the player and the agenda of the presentation ceremony", said Barca in a statement.

Ecstatic to join the club, Vidal thanked Bayern Munich for providing him with an opportunity to play for Barcelona.

He leaves Camp Nou having won two La Liga titles and three Copa del Rey crowns. As well as his three Bundesliga titles he also helped the German giants win the DFB-Pokal in 2016 and the German Super Cup twice.

"These memories give me a lot of strength to take on the world and fight".

Barcelona were initially interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot but after failing to convince the Frenchman for the same, they went ahead with Vidal, reported.

Guardiola coached Vidal for one season during his time at Bayern Munich, handing the former Juventus star 47 starts in the 2015-16 season. "He's always led the big games and we could always trust him", Rummenigge said.
