Xherdan Shaqiri to wear number 23 shirt at Liverpool

Matt Le Tissier isn't fully convinced by Stoke City's Xherdan Shaqiri, as he reportedly edges closer to joining Liverpool.

Liverpool have agreed a £13.75m deal to sign Manchester United target Xherdan Shaqiri with the Stoke City attacker set to undergo his medical on Merseyside today, according to the Daily Mail.

Talks between Stoke and Liverpool over a £13million deal advanced in recent days and the 26-year-old winger has been unveiled as the club's third signing of the summer transfer window.

The German wasted no time in starting his transfer business, bringing in Brazilian midfielder Fabinho from Monaco while Naby Keita completed his long-awaited move from RB Leipzig.

The winger netted a 90th minute victor against Serbia to help Switzerland qualify for the knockout stages, but they were defeated by Sweden in the round of 16.

The Switzerland global became the club's third new arrival this summer by completing the formalities of a medical and his transfer on Friday.

Shaqiri would not be seen as someone to regularly feature in Reds starring XI but certainly gives Jurgen Klopp a variety of options in the front line.

'As a player you always want to be on the biggest stage in football.

Shaqiri will hope to succeed at Liverpool, having struggled at other big clubs, such as Bayern Munich and Inter.

'I'm very happy to be here, ' Shaqiri said. A few years ago I wanted to come too but it didn't happen.

Do you think Shaqiri will be a good signing for Liverpool? I want to improve myself too, I want to be with the best and I want to win titles.
