Former US President Obama lost 2.5 million followers; Trump saw his follower count drop by roughly 400,000 and Kim Kardashian unloaded 1.7 million followers in the last day.
Barack Obama lost over 2 million followers from his previous 103.63 million, leaving him at 101 million, while President Donald Trump lost 340,000 followers, taking him from 53.4 million to 53.1 million.
Kenyatta and Ruto lost 16,098 and 1,465 followers respectively as at 2:30 pm on Friday when Capital FM News last checked the number of followers they had on Twitter.
The social media platform is removing locked accounts from follower counts to increase credibility.

"We understand this may be hard for some, but we believe accuracy and transparency make Twitter a more trusted service for public conversation", she wrote. The company culled tens of millions of suspicious accounts on Wednesday and caused some of its highest profile users to hemorrhage followers.

Popular radio presenter Shaffie Weru also spoke about the purge making light of the situation noting: "Twitter is doing away with all fake followers.nobody can stop reggae my frens (friends), we are all dying".
