Pogba's inconsistent form for the national side comes at the end of a campaign in which his form was up and down for Manchester United.

Didier Deschamps and Antoine Griezmann have jumped to the defence of Paul Pogba after the Manchester United midfielder was jeered during France's most recent Friendly.

Dembele has come out in support of his global team-mate and insisted that it doesn't matter what Pogba does on the pitch, he will never be able to satisfy some of his detractors.

"We're France, we are all France players, we're all fighting for our country and the fans there and we produced a very good performance. We don't expect that from him, only that he rotates the ball and plays for the team", Griezmann said.

In addition to Pogba, Thorian Flauvin was also the target of French supporter heckling.

Bayern Munich's Corentin Tolisso has performed well when given an opportunity as of late, and Steven N'Zonzi is another option.

"Fans need to realise this".

The France worldwide has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, despite helping Atletico Madrid win the Europa League with two goals in the final against Marseille. "We're all on the same boat, and we have to all stick together". Deschamps believes the fans just didn't care for the overall optics of the match.

Paul Pogba is in danger of losing his starting place at the World Cup.

"I'm not going to question him because I know the potential of Paul", Deschamps told TF1 " s "Telefoot' programme.

Meanwhile, attacker Antoine Griezmann, who found the net against the Azzurri, said: "We're on the right track, we won, but we've still got lots of things to work on and to learn".
