Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly seemed to confirm that Sarri was joining Chelsea after their 2-1 win against Poland.

"It's disappointing that he leaves like this. We know we can win something with him".

"When a person like this comes, he needs time".

"They have to give him time because he will suit the football of Chelsea".

He impressed Man United supporters with a lively display attacking through the centre during Russia's thumping opening day 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia last week.

"I can only speak on behalf of my client and reaffirm that there has not yet been any meeting with the Chelsea management".

"At the moment there are a lot of rumours about me, but we'll see what happens and what happens in the future - at the moment, it is only talking but nothing is decided", the 51-year-old said.

This policy may scupper Sarri's interest in signing Belgium worldwide Mertens and also Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, whose future with the Serie A champions is the source of renewed doubts.
