Detroit will operate with an All-Star frontcourt of Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, but will have to figure out the pieces around them in hopes to take the team into playoff contention.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Pistons Owner Tom Gores and senior adviser Ed Stefanski "sold Casey with an aggressive contractual commitment and a case that together, they could make the Pistons a perennial playoff team in the Eastern Conference". "There is a lot of talent, a solid core and some exciting young players eager to get better".

Casey's Raptors teams were the winningest in franchise history, as the 2017-18 group broke the franchise record for regular-season victories (set in 2015-16) with 59.

The Detroit Pistons have a new head coach, despite the fact the team doesn't have a general manager or team president. With the offseason officially starting after the Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers for the NBA Championship, it was time for the Pistons to pull the trigger. He is meeting players in Los Angeles, where many work out in the off-season. Having spent many hours with Dwane over the last few weeks, I'm confident he is the right person to get us to the next level.

Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey points against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first half of Game 4 of an NBA basketball second-round playoff series, Monday, May 7, 2018, in Cleveland. "He embodies our culture and will be a great representative for our franchise". Last month, he was named the Coach of the Year by the National Basketball Coaches Association. Toronto won four Atlantic Division titles during Casey's tenure.
