EA Announces Battlefield 5 Details and Origin Access Premier

While Electronic Arts' E3 2018 premise lays with the games themselves, a surprise announcement also came from its EA Play press conference.

Expected to launch this fall, Origin Access Premiere will cost $14.99USD/mth or $99.99USD/year - just under the cost of a couple of games. This upgrade allows players to access newly released games and upcoming games, including Anthem, Battlefield V, and Federation Internationale de Football Association 19.

Origin Access Premiere is a new tier of the Origin Access service.

The new Origin Access Premier brings full access to both archived games as new and pre-released games.

Origin Access Premier is not the first time EA has tried their hands on subscription models for games.

For players who are not currently a member of Origin Access, sign-up for a free seven-day trial** available now through June 17, 2018 to download and play games from the Origin Access library. It was announced today at EA Play, and looks to work a lot like Xbox Game Pass does. Price is yet to be determined, but with Origin Access being $29.99 / year; I can imagine that Premier will likely creep toward at least $60 / year if not more. In Origin Access Premier, this does not apply. The publisher also announced a separate streaming service but shared no additional details.

"No trial, no waiting, just play", said EA. Then save 10% on other Origin digital purchases like Ultimate Team content. So, for example, if you have the base version of Access but want to play Anthem, you'll have to go buy a copy. No more of that 10-hour trial nonsense. Premier members can play the title on February 15th, 2019. "Plus, dive into over 100 PC titles whenever you want".
