Ahead of England's second game of the World Cup against Panama, an image from their training camp has emerged showing Gareth Southgate's potential starting XI. On it, the first-choice selection appeared to be detailed in formation with each player's under-study listed underneath.

Depending on Alli's recovery, Southgate may opt to rest his creative midfielder in favour of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who looked lively in the closing stages against Tunisia.

Southgate has had physical problems himself after the England coach dislocated his shoulder while out jogging on Wednesday. However, the 23-year-old's performance dipped as the game progressed in Volgograd and he was eventually replaced by Rashford as England pursued a victor.

Sterling is crucial to the way this England team stretches the pitch.

"I just had a amusing feeling, and I'm not comparing them by any stretch, but my first World Cup as a kid was Italia 90 and Gascoigne obviously started that tournament as a squad player - he had the number 19 on his back and by the end of the tournament he'd really been taken into the country's hearts".
