Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain was found dead at 61

Anthony Bourdain was found dead yesterday morning with CNN reporting at the time that he had died in an apparent suicide.

The cause of death was suicide, according to the broadcasting network CNN.

CNN confirmed the death, saying in a statement that Bourdain was found unresponsive Friday morning by friend and chef Eric Ripert in the French city of Strasbourg. He'd been working on an episode for the 12th season of "Parts Unknown".

Asia Argento, actress and girlfriend of late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, has made a statement about his death. His talents never ceases to amaze us and we will miss him very much. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly hard time".

Bertrand Alépée, pastry chef at The Tempered Room in Parkdale, posted a picture of himself with Bourdain, along with the caption: "We lost a true legend today. I am beyond devastated". His 2000 best-seller Kitchen Confidential introduced readers to the workers toiling anonymously behind the scenes in American restaurants, many of whom are Spanish-speaking immigrants. At a point where my career was just really starting to blossom he inspired me to do things my way and proved that you could be successful while playing by your own rules. For him, food, though a huge pleasure, was more importantly a storytelling tool, and a passport to the world at large.

"I enjoyed his show; he was quite a character, I will say, ' Trump added, of the much-loved show that airs on the network POTUS most loves to hate". To make us a little less afraid of the unknown.

"Every time the show airs we get an influx of visitors from the USA and other parts of Canada", he said. "That was some good food", Bourdain said of his bean supper in 2010. Gresham Fernandes, culinary director, Impresario Group, has a copy of nearly all of them but is "particularly drawn to his initial works, which made me realise that I'm not the only one who wants to do insane stuff with food". He was born in NY on June 25, 1956, and raised in New Jersey. He eventually became executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles in 1998.

As Maria Bustillos wrote for Eater a year ago, before becoming a celebrity TV personality in his own right, Anthony Bourdain very publicly could not stand Emeril Lagasse, or at least Emeril's cheerful public persona.
