Amazon Prime rolls out new Whole Foods discount in North Carolina stores

The service began in February in Austin, Dallas, Cincinnati and Virginia Beach, Va. Amazon has owned Austin-based Whole Foods since August 2017. At the cash register, they can have the cashier scan their phone to save some money on any item that was marked with a Prime savings sign in the store. Delivery is available daily from 8 a.m.to 10 p.m through primenow.com. The lucky customers living in these states (21 so far) get 10 percent off sale items, as well as access to exclusives discounts.

Amazon is expanding the Prime member savings to an additional 10 states on June 13. That means, by the end of this week, nearly half of all Whole Foods Market stores across the USA will support the initiative, according to Amazon's press release. Amazon Prime members also get free, same-day shipping on many goods (in select areas), on-demand Prime Video and Prime Music streaming, and free Kindle books.

Amazon and Whole Foods on Tuesday said that two-hour food delivery for Prime members is now available in Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia and Richmond.

The discounts will be available starting June 13.

Grocery orders will be packaged by "shoppers" employed at Whole Foods stores and delivered by drivers with the Amazon Flex courier service, Katz said.
