Vasilevskiy, Lightning Top Caps 4-2 To Even East Final 2-All

Victor Hedman finished with three points and Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 36 shots as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Washington Capitals 4-2 in game three of the Eastern Conference final series on Tuesday.

The Lightning won Game 4 despite going almost 21 full minutes of game time — the last 10:41 of the first period, followed by the initial 10:11 of the second — without putting a single official shot on net.

With an unblemished 6-0 all-time record in games played in Washington's home rink, the Lightning probably figured they didn't have to resort to such tactics.

Stamkos now has six goals and 10 points in a seven-game point streak. Game five will be played in Tampa on Saturday night.

Washington went into Tampa and took the first two games decidedly winning 4-2, and 6-2.

Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper also opted to juggle his top three lines and was rewarded with additional offense without hurting his defense.

Tell us your prediction for Game 5. "Was that the recipe?" That was the recipe. "He's given us chances throughout the year to win, and tonight was another example".

But while the Lightning went 1-for-2 on the power play and scored the game-winner with Eller having just left the penalty box, the Capitals couldn't take advantage of any of their four opportunities.

Now it's Washington's turn to respond. "I think that affected their second [period]". "We'll keep pushing forward and we're pretty happy with the game, other than a couple of bounces".

WASHINGTON - And just like that, we're back to all square.Wow, this Lightning team is something. "We were able to reset there and had a better third".

He was spectacular at times, including stops against Chandler Stephenson on a breakaway and Nicklas Backstrom - who returned after missing four games with an injured right hand - from the doorstep in the second period. He has been skating with the team and participated in Wednesday's optional practice.

That stretch was part of a chunk of almost 21 full minutes of game time - the last 10:41 of the first period, followed by the initial 10:11 of the second - during which Tampa Bay never putt a single official shot on net.

"You can't replace a guy like him", Jay Beagle told the Washington Post.

"That's why he's one of the best goalies in the world", Stamkos said. "Obviously, when things start going and the confidence level gets higher and you find yourself wanting the puck more, wanting to make plays and wanting to shoot it".

A day earlier, Cooper had predicted that after three penalty-filled games both teams would be far more disciplined. I like the home team to finally win a game in this series.

The Capitals have converted on 24.0 percent of their power play chances this season, a figure that's good enough for seventh-best in the league.

Washington will look to end the visiting streak in this series. The road teams are 2-0 in this series. We knew it wasn't going to be easy, and all those clichés. (Wow, just saying that feels weird.) Anton Stralman has no history of such behavior and can not be classified as a dirty player, there was no clear intent to injure in the hit, and there was no serious injury to Wilson as a result of the play.
