With an official announcement on Twitter on Thursday evening (May 10th), "The Voice" revealed that the 15th season, due to start in the fall of 2018, will feature twice the "American Idol" power than the current 14th series, with ex-contestant Hudson lining up as a coach with pop star Clarkson. "With my girl, Kelly", she said before busting out a version of "Since U Been Gone".

"Girl, I am back with you, sitting side by side".

It has been announced that Jennifer Hudson will attempt to construct a winning team alongside Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and returning coach Kelly Clarkson.

Prior to appearing on NBC's The Voice, Jennifer also served as a coach on the United Kingdom version of The Voice twice, winning her first season on the series. "We're friends, but we're future frenemies". I love Jennifer. I can't wait to work with her!

As for Adam and Blake, the Maroon 5 frontman and country singer have never relinquished their coaching roles since the franchise premiered back in 2011. "They each have a unique understanding of what it's like to be in the artists' shoes".

Jennifer was a judge on The Voice UK a year ago.

The Voice will pay homage, perhaps inadvertently, to an old rival, American Idol, with two of its Season 15 coaches having graduated from the original Fox music competition. As of this writing, Clarkson still has two artists in the Top 8: Brynn Cartelli and Kaleb Lee. The semifinals for Season 14 of the show are set to begin on Monday, May 14.
