Shooting at middle school in IN, 2 victims in critical condition

The shooting was reported just after 9 a.m. local time at the middle school in Indiana. A student was also shot and the suspected shooter was apprehended. "We only say that we're praying for them, hoping they get through this situation", said Noblesville Police Department Lt. Bruce Barnes.

It is not believed to be related to the shooting, Jowitt said.

Jeremy Seaman also confirmed to The Indianapolis Star that his younger brother was the teacher who was shot.

Jason Seaman, who played for the Salukis from 2007-10, was shot three times in a school shooting Friday in Noblesville, Indiana, including once in the abdomen.

Stonebraker said the shooter began firing in the classroom after reportedly asking to be excused from class, later returning with guns.

"If it weren't for him, more of us would have been injured for sure", said seventh-grader Ethan Stonebraker, according to the Associated Press.

WISH-TV reported that someone may have intervened, stopping the shooter. Authorities didn't have any information about their conditions.

After last week's Texas high school shooting, elected officials and survivors there have voiced support for gun rights.

"We don't know what happened in the classroom, so I can't make any comments but we do know what happened in that classroom resolved very quickly", Jowitt said.

It's unclear if the teacher is the one injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The extent of injuries was not yet known.

A male student opened fire at a middle school in suburban Indianapolis on Friday morning, the local authorities said, injuring another student and a teacher.

Noblesville, about 20 miles northeast of Indianapolis, is home to about 50,000 people. "Parents have been asked to pick up their children from the high school", writes Fox News.

Jennifer Morris, who was among the anxious parents who rushed to get their kids, appeared slightly dazed and said she was at work when her 14-year-old son sent a text message about the shooting, stunning her.

A teacher who was wounded was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital, and a student who was wounded was taken to Riley Children's Hospital, according to Jowitt. She did not know their conditions.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said there is no indication any other suspects were involved in the shooting.

When a middle school boy allegedly opened fire at his IN school, the science teacher immediately ran and tackled him to the ground, one student IN the classroom told ABC News. No further details were provided about the suspect, victim or possible motive for the attack.

The school was put on lockdown, but students were eventually able to leave the school and be bussed out.
