Rodney Hood Refused To Enter Game 4 In 4th Quarter

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Rodney Hood made a selfish decision to refuse to check into his team's Game 4 blowout win over the Toronto Raptors on Monday, but it does not sound like the immature act is going to cost him anything. "Hood dressed quickly and was one of the first players out of the locker room after the game". But not every player joined in the winning.

Hood explained to Altman, according to a team source, that he said something to the effect of, "I'm good, I'm fine, play the other guys", when asked to go in Monday. During a timeout, several players surrounded Hood to encourage him to enter the game, but he refused.

Cleveland will await the victor of the Philadelphia 76ers-Boston Celtics series in the Eastern Conference Finals.

In the long-term, Hood will become a restricted free agent this summer. He reportedly refused to enter the game and the team is considering a suspension.

Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue used rookie Cedi Osman for 20 minutes off the bench in Game 4 after he played less than 13 minutes combined in the previous 10 playoff games. Hood spoke to team officials about the incident Tuesday and will not be disciplined, said the person who spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.

Hood has struggled so far this postseason.

Hood scored just two points in the first three games of this series and is averaging 4.6 points for the playoffs on.133 shooting from 3-point range.

In 10 appearances, the 6-foot-8 swingman has averaged just 4.6 points per game - more than 6 points fewer than the 10.8 he averaged after being acquired by Cleveland from the Utah Jazz at the National Basketball Association trade deadline.

Originally taken in with the 23rd overall selection of the 2014 NBA Draft out of Duke, Hood was acquired from the Utah Jazz at the trade deadline as part of the Cavs' radical roster makeover.
