'Overwatch' anniversary event includes a new Deathmatch map

A new version of Overwatch will launch on May 22, 2018.

The World of Warcraft studio confirmed that the Overwatch Anniversary 2018 is officially a thing following weeks of speculation, which means a loot box of new content is winging its way to the game.

A new deathmatch map will be added on the event's first day, called Petra. Some past seasonal brawls will also return to the Arcade, and they'll be rotating daily. This sounds like a full-featured mode, as it includes placement matches, skill rating division, and leaderboards to track progress.

If you've missed out on Overwatch over the past two years, a free weekend will be taking place a few days after the latest event gets underway. You can also access over 50 new cosmetic items, including eight legendary skins and three new epic skins, and new dance emotes. It'll be released on 22nd May, and probably cost an arm and a leg.

Posting the official release date for the new celebration, the development team revealed that fans don't have long to wait. It will include 15 skins of Legendary and Epic rarities, as well as the exclusive skins from the Origins edition.

Blizzard is once again celebrating the anniversary of the game, and starting on May 22 through June 11 you'll be able to partake in a new special event on every platform.

Legendary Anniversary loot boxes will also be available, which guarantee one, non-duplicate item of the aforementioned class. If you purchase 50 Loot Box Bundle, you'll get a bonus Legendary Anniversary Loot Box. Players were not happy with the pricing but Jeff Kaplan, Game Director of Overwatch has mentioned that they are listening closely to players, so there might be a change this time around.

Past brawls and cosmetics are back for Overwatch Anniversary 2018.
