Our first look at Lenovo's true bezel-less flagship

The week started off with a teaser from the Lenovo VP Chang Cheng who posted a corner of a notch-less Lenovo device. Then, he just confirmed now the name and design of the new phone. A USB-C port might be offered on the bottom bezel. Further, Cheng polled users on smartphone display proportions and hinted at a handset with a 95% screen-to-body ratio. Apparently, Lenovo Z5 will have a screen-to-body ratio of 100%.

According to the teaser, the phone appears to come packed inside a metallic frame which is the reason there are antenna bands on the sides of the device.

The post has been shared with a hashtag searching 'the new national leader revelation on Weibo.

The Lenovo Group VP also revealed that they had achieved four technological breakthroughs and 18 patented technologies with the Lenovo Z5.

Aside from structural- and antenna-related issues, a major hurdle for truly bezel-less smartphones is how to incorporate the aforementioned audio and camera components. As of this wiring, there is no information available on the specifications of the Lenovo Z5. It is also likely to come with at least 6GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, dual-camera setup and and features like fingerprint scanner.

There are speculations that company could launch the phone on June 14.

Lenovo's upcoming flagship smartphone will be all about the display with no disrupting bezel to be seen. The fingerprint sensor could have easily been placed at the back but, rumours claim the smartphone will have an in-display fingerprint sensor. However, this design might pop-up few questions like Where's the front camera or the speakers or the proximity sensors. The company tried selling ZUK phones in China recently but it did not receive a good response from the masses.
