Lisbon hosts Eurovision song contest for first time

The first semifinal of the global song contest "Eurovision" will be held in Lisbon on the night of may 9, and Belarus with the song Forever will represent Ukrainian singer, performing under the alias Alekseev.

Israel's Netta Barzilai, who will perform her song Toy, is the favourite with bookmakers to win this year's competition. It's the first time Ireland has made the Grand Final since 2013.

O'Shaughnessy was the penultimate act in the first semi-final in Lisbon and succeeded in making the city's Altice Arena feel very intimate with his delicate-yet-memorable performance. The Eurovision Song Contest semifinals take place in Lisbon on Tuesday, May 8 and Thursday, May 10, the grand final on Saturday May 12, 2018. Last year's winners Portugal also do not have to qualify via the semis.
