How to watch Liverpool v Real Madrid

TV3 and Virgin Media will dominate Irish TV coverage of the Champions League and Europa League for the next three seasons. It is unclear how Virgin will deliver this volume of matches - whether it will be broadcast on TV3, a subsidiary channel, or via an online streaming service.

RTÉ announced that it has secured rights to first choice Champions League games on Tuesday evenings for the next three seasons.

Pat Kiely, managing director of TV3, did not mention any details of the broadcast arrangements in... The commercial station has also won exclusive rights for all Europa League games, as well as the final round of Champions League qualifiers and European Super Cup.

From next season, the Champions League group stage format will change with 6pm and 8pm games on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Virgin Media rival Eir had the rights to Europa League matches.

The new deal comes into effect in August. Its Champions League gains are a further coup after it secured the rights for rugby's Six Nations and the free-to-air rights for the European Champions Cup.
