Crocked Neymar Named In Brazil's 23-Man Squad

Brazil have named their 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation, as manager Tite aims to lead the Selecao to glory for the sixth time.

Neymar, 26, had an operation on a fractured metatarsal in March and the Brazil team doctor said he would be out of action for three months.

"Brazil is one of the favorites given the football it has shown, given its consistency", Tite said at the team announcement in Rio de Janeiro.

"Next week, he'll be able to start training with the group". However, that list was shortened a man last week when starting right-back Dani Alves was ruled out of the tournament after injuring his right ACL while playing for PSG.

Neymar of course, has not been in action since fracturing his foot in February and is touch and go for the World Cup in Russian Federation, which is less than a month away. "And sometimes it goes beyond numbers, it has to do with feeling".

They are in Group E of the World Cup alongside Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia and kick off their campaign on June 17, against the Swiss.

Brazil team medical staff revealed that their star forward's recovery was going well and he could potentially face the Croats at Anfield on June 3.

He said the national team, seeking a record sixth World Cup, stands out for being "aggressive, scoring goals".

"Coutinho can play in the middle and in the flanks, he is versatile", Tite said. Tite decided not to inform who are the players that could replace one of those until June 4 in case of injury.

Alisson, Ederson, Cassio; Danilo, Fagner, Thiago Silva, Miranda, Marquinhos, Pedro Geromel, Marcelo, Filipe Luis; Casemiro, Paulinho, Fernandinho, Renato Augusto, Coutinho, Fred, Willian; Neymar, Roberto Firmino, Gabriel Jesus, Douglas Costa, Taison.

"At first, Gabriel Jesus is our starter. But Roberto Firmino will fight for that position in top form", Tite said.

"The challenge is open on the right-back, but Danilo has some advantage now because he has performed well recently", Tite said at his hour-long news conference.
