Vincent Kompany delivers epic victory speech to Manchester City fans and players

Vinny sounds determined to buck the trend of champions underachieving the year after, something City have had happen to them twice, and wants the Blues to be ready for another assault on the title next season.

Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions on Sunday after neighbours Manchester United lost 1-0 to West Brom at Old Trafford.

By completing the job after 33 games, City have emulated the achievement of United, who secured the crown with the same number of matches to spare in 2001.

It is the second earliest date that the Premier League title has been sealed and City could still set several records before the end of an impressive campaign.

But to the surprise of many football pundits and lovers, Manchester United were beaten at home as Manchester City dethroned Chelsea as EPL Champions.

"The first time you win it, you think you'll win all of them", said Kompany.

But on Sunday afternoon, as it clinched the Premier League title, the club did none of those things. "It's such a hard achievement and I'm proud of the team and everyone involved".

"I had a feeling when I woke up this morning", he said.

"Last season against the other contenders was not so good, we won few games".

"But it feels just as good because you can't take it for granted".

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry on Sky Sports: They deserve to be champions, I am sure they would have liked to do it against Swansea but now they can play against Swansea with a happier smile on their face because they all know they're champions and they deserve it.

But Jose Mourinho's men still ended up handing the trophy to City with a lacklustre display against bottom of the table Albion, who had won only three times in the league this season before this weekend. I have never been able to retain a title and I want to see if this team has got it to carry on and be even more successful.

Silva has been a key figure for City for much of the season, putting in some inspirational performances that have seen him nominated for the PFA Players' Player of the Year award.

"I noticed within the first month that if I'd met him at 18 or 20 [years old] then I would've been the flawless player for him", Kompany said.

"I think David is also one of the best this season", said De Bruyne. Like, we all know that City fans are plastics, but you'd have thought these totally-not-CGI supporters would've shown their faces over the course of a season where Pep Guardiola was spanking teams for fun.
