She has alleged that she had sex once in 2006 with Trump and was paid shortly before the 2016 election to keep quiet about it. Daniels claims Cohen's denials portray her as a liar and sued for defamation.

President Donald Trump's lawyer is doubling down after a new report suggesting that special counsel Robert Mueller can prove a big part of the Steele dossier.

In a hearing in the wake of a federal raid on his office, home, and hotel room, prosecutors in the Southern District of NY revealed Friday that Cohen is a subject in a months-long criminal investigation, reportedly focused at least in part on his role in arranging a nondisclosure deal and $130,000 payout to Stormy Daniels. The raid was unrelated to the Trump-Russia collusion investigation, but instead focused on payments made to women who have said they had sexual relationships with Trump.

The special counsel and an attorney for Cohen did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Reuters or McClatchey. Cohen merely denied that he had traveled to Prague recently. Kosachev chairs the Foreign Affairs Committee of a body of the Russian legislature, the Federation Council.

The U.S. launched a series of strikes in Syria, targeting chemical weapons facilities and a research center using both aircrafts and ships, President Trump announced Friday night.

After giving Trump until Monday to weigh in, Wood then decided that she would resume a part of the hearing at 2 p.m. on Friday, apparently to consider interests of other clients - "innocent parties" she said - whose files may have been vacuumed up in the Cohen raid. "He was trying to clarify the timeline of the agreements made with Davidson in his [Cohen's] favor", said the source. The raids were partly a referral by Mueller's office. Cohen's alleged communications with the Russians were mentioned several times in Steele's reports, which he shared with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The dossier said he went there to meet with Vladimir Putin aides to supposedly discuss covering up Russian-Trump hacking into Democratic Party computers. Cohen's team, he said, was "delaying a government investigation because they can't come up with the facts to justify their case".

Avenatti on Saturday called Cohen "radioactive" and said that anybody who has had contact with him "should be very, very nervous".

But Cohen has presented no evidence that he was in Los Angeles at the time in question, and his claim that he's "never been to Prague" directly contradicts his previous public statements. President Trump similarly dismissed the allegation as false. The investigators intend to press Cohen for more information, the sources said.

Cohen was photographed outside the Loews Regency Hotel on Park Avenue in New York City on Friday.
