Wahl bought the ticket that hit the $533 million jackpot on March 30, a day before the drawing, at a Lukoil gas station and mini-mart in Riverdale, New Jersey.
At New Jersey Lottery headquarters Friday, Wahl was handed the traditional oversized check. It was just the fourth time the jackpot has surpassed the $500 million mark, lottery officials have said. "I can tell you, it didn't sink in".
Mega Millions is played in 44 states and Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
So how does Wahl plan to spend the multi-million dollar prize?
Wahl, who moved to Vernon, New Jersey, from MI with his family in late July for a job opportunity, waited two weeks before coming forward to claim the historic prize.More news: Syria: what is 'deconfliction' and what form might US strikes take?

The victor of last month's $553 million Mega Millions jackpot stepped forward Friday to claim his prize in New Jersey. Although the owner told New Jersey media last week that he knew who won, he was tight lipped on the person's identity.
The retailer that sold the winning ticket received a $30,000 bonus check for selling the winning ticket.
"We cried a lot together as a family, hugged a lot", Wahl said.
Wahl said he made a decision to take the cash option rather than yearly annuity payments and will end up with about $175 million after taxes, NorthJersey.com reported. It's not only life changing money for me but it's life changing for others.
