Family of four displaced after Chesapeake house fire

Upon arriving on scene, Traer Fire requested assistance from neighboring departments to contain the fire. "It is a mutually beneficial opportunity for kids coming into the program, and for us", said Anita Tyrrell-Brown, the district's fire chief.

The fire is on Casey Road near the Claude Highway. At first, crews attacked the house from all sides.

The fire service spokeswoman said: "Instances of re-ignition are infrequent within Herts Fire and Rescue Service".

The homeowner said her kids and grandkids all got out safely.

Spokeswoman Sara Farris said the fire was contained to the garage area, but that smoke damage affected other areas of the house.
