BJP ministers' resignations being sent to J&K CM: Ram Madhav

"Not only has a girl been raped, her father was arrested and has died, and the BJP government and the police did not even file an FIR", he added.

In Unnao, a BJP MLA - Kuldeep Singh Sengar - has been accused of raping a minor. He was charged under sections 363 (kidnapping), 366 (abduction of woman), 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The resignations of Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga were received from BJP state chief Sat Sharma this morning which were immediately accepted and forwarded to Governor N N Vohra for completing the procedural formalities, they said.

CBI yesterday interrogated Shashi Singh about the incident.

Life threats against Unnao rape survivor's relatives and residents of her village have increased in the past few days, claimed the victim's uncle.

According to the postmortem report, the father was not given proper treatment at the judicial custody. CBI can cross-examine the statements given by accused MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in presence of Shashi Singh.

The 17-year-old teenager alleged that BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar along with his brother Atul Singh Sengar and other people gang-raped her at his residence on June 4, 2017.

Singh and Ganga had attracted widespread anger and criticism for attending a meeting of the Hindu Ekta Manch, a loose group formed to support the accused, which demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case.

Citing a recent high court order, Surjewala said: "In a damning rebuke to the BJP's claims, the Allahabad High Court has unravelled the real truth of the Unnao rape case".

The BJP General Secretary said the development would had no bearing on the alliance of two ruling parties in the state. "The BJP-led state government has turned these civic bodies into money minting machines but has not improved the civic amenities", Hemant said.

He said the resignation letters were now being forwarded to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. The BJP sent the resignations to the chief minister who in turn will pass it on to Governor N N Vohra for acceptance, PDP leaders said.
