YouTube is finally giving its mobile app a dark theme, almost a year after the Google subsidiary introduced the night-friendly mode on desktop. This feature debuted on YouTube's desktop site a year ago.
To access the new theme, tap your account icon on the top right, select "Settings", then select "Dark Theme". If any app actually needed a dark mode, it might be the YouTube app, which can be blindingly bright in a dark room. The feature was heavily requested for mobile apps after the launch on desktop.

Reportedly, dark mode on Android is coming "soon", but whether that means days or weeks, we can't yet say. The playback screen featured a more consistent skinning, and we already saw developers fine-tuning the shades of dark gray tones being employed. The dark theme as well accentuates the colours in the app, drawing the true colours of the videos out.
With the Dark Mode, essentially all of the White you see in the UI will be turned Black, making for a much darker browsing and viewing experience.
With the update, YouTube joins a growing list of apps that feature a dark mode. At the time, the feature wasn't made available to all users, nor was it officially announced by the company.
