Rory McIlroy has high hopes in his first Valspar Championship

"I haven't seen a whole lot of him the last few years since he's been hurt and trying to come back, but we all hope for that Sunday afternoon pairing along side all us young guys", Spieth said.

"Certainly (Tiger) adds an element to any tournament that he enters and saw it yesterday in the practice round how many people were out there starting to follow those guys", Spieth said. And knowing the nature he's displayed over the last 20 years, it still wouldn't be surprising if come Masters time he's in the hunt on Sunday. They were carted to the seventh tee, where they started to get ahead of some other groups on the course.

"I remember being unbelievably nervous on that shot and for the most of the shots I hit in the round", Spieth said.

"I'll feel probably more nervous on the first tee tomorrow than I do on the first tee normally, just given the setting", Spieth said. Spieth did make a hole-in-one on the 12th hole, but before that Woods and Kuchar had started eagle, birdie, birdie. "I did get a good look at him there and I thought he looked very promising and so if he continues to work away and play some - and, yeah, it's always fun to play with Tiger and Jordan". Even though he has never played at Innisbrook, don't rule him out this week.

"Seeing Phil win I think was really cool for Tiger to recognize, 'OK, I've got all this time to be able to still get to that high level, '" Spieth said. "I also need to get used to putting on bent [grass] as that's going to be a little bit different". I know some people are saying that I've been a little erratic, or a little inconsistent.

"It's both, " Woods said. But 10 rounds, it's not that many. I like Smith a lot in FanDuel cash games.

Woods was last month named as an assistant captain for the September showpiece, but he then revealed his desire to make his eighth appearance in the Ryder Cup as a player.

At the age of 47, Mickelson is playing some of the best golf of his career, with four consecutive top-six finishes. The victor could come out of that trio, but I also like Tony Finau, Chez Reavie, Matt Kuchar, Justin Rose, and Austin Cook as contenders.

"Anybody else outside of golf, you're still doing what you know you're better at than them", he said.

A large statue of a snake sits just off the 16th tee, which marks the start of what was ranked the fourth-toughest final three-hole stretch on the PGA Tour a year ago. You shouldn't go insane rostering Stricker this week, but he's an interesting option who could flash at a course that requires both a lot of patience and plenty of fairways hit. But he hasn't been able to get over the hump on Sundays just yet.

"What Phil is doing is showing us we can still do it later on in our careers". "And that's something that would be an experience we haven't had before".
