The Atlantic Coast Conference was once again one of the toughest in the nation throughout the 2017-2018 season, as evident in the nine NCAA Tournament bids it received this year.

The Owls (17-15) earned the No. 5 seed in their bracket, while Penn State (21-13) is the No. 4 seed.

"Watching some of the teams that are in it, this is a terrific field with many good teams and many which are feeling they were probably slighted by the NCAA Tournament".

ESPN has Notre Dame listed as one of the first four teams out of the field.

Southern California, Notre Dame, Baylor and Saint Mary's are the No. 1 seeds for the National Invitation Tournament.

Maria Auth's five-point game helped the Nittany Lions improve to 4-3, while the Great Danes remained winless on the season. "I think we'll fight, we'll compete, we'll scrap and we'll win a couple at the tournament".

But for right now, while we can split hairs about it, the decision to leave Notre Dame out of the tournament painfully makes sense. "When you put us all together and we have all the pieces". The Nittany Lions scored in bursts, with a six-goal run in the first half and a seven-goal barrage sandwiched around halftime. Penn State beat Ohio State three times. The Nittany Lions reached the quarterfinals of the College Basketball Invitational in 2014 following a 16-18 record.

Despite missing out on March Madness, Carr and the Nittany Lions still have a trophy to get after, a trophy Penn State won in 2009.

The 21 wins are the most ever for a Chambers-led Penn State team and the first time his team has finished.500 or better in the Big Ten.

Fans can expect some interesting new wrinkles in the NIT this year.
