Messi to miss Malaga match for personal reasons

La Liga leaders Barcelona said Lionel Messi will miss their fixture at Malaga on Sunday morning (Singapore time) due to personal reasons, with Spanish media reports saying it is due to the birth of his third son.

Barcelona fear they could lose Lionel Messi with a club paying his huge £625million release clause.

He wrote on Instagram: "Welcome Ciro!"

Messi and his wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, have two other sons - Thiago, born in 2012, and Mateo, born in 2015.

Messi has been replaced by defender Yerry Mina for Saturday's clash. "We are very happy".

Messi has started in 26 of Barcelona's 27 league games and was expected to play tonight.

Barca take on Chelsea in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at Camp Nou on Wednesday. He scored a free kick as Barca extended their lead at the top of La Liga to eight points with a 1-0 win.
