Katy Perry Kissed 'American Idol' Contestant - And He Didn't Like It

During his audition, Glaze revealed that he hadn't yet had his first kiss because "I can't kiss a girl without being in a relationship", but Idol judge Katy Perry made a decision to change that when she invited him closer to plant a surprise smooch on him. However, the "Fireworks" singer took things up a notch recently when she allegedly kissed another contestant, Benjamin Glaze.

Not only was Glaze's first kiss a let-down for him, but Perry wasn't impressed with his singing either as the judges chose not to let Glaze advance to the next stage. "I wanted it to be special".

A nervous Benjamin began his audition with a grilling from judges Katy, Lionel Richie and country singer Luke Bryan.

Katy then beckoned him up to the panel, where she asked him to plant a kiss on her cheek. "I wanted my first kiss to be special.I wanted to save it for my first relationship".

"Would I have done it if she said, 'Would you kiss me?' No, I would have said no", he continued. After learning that he'd never kissed a girl before, Katy requested a kiss on the cheek from the teen.

Ms. Perry motioned for him to come over to the judges' table and stuck her face toward him.

Glaze, who auditioned with "Levels" by Nick Jonas, did not make it to Hollywood.

. "Katy!" he yelled, as he stumbled backward.

Although the kiss went down in October, fans hit the Twitterverse with mixed reviews when the show aired this week, with some calling the kiss "sexual harassment" or "weird", and others saying he was one lucky man.

When he returned home, Mr. Glaze worked through his feelings about the kiss by talking to his friends.

When Glaze first entered the studio, shyly discussing his cashier job and using it to meet "cute girls", Perry playfully asked him about his love life.

Months later - and in the wake of movements like #MeToo - Glaze says he doesn't feel he was sexually harassed by Perry, and has rationalized the kiss by determining it didn't actually count. "But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately".

"It was lip contact versus a romantic situation with someone you care about", he said.
