Carroll, a White House lawyer who quietly became one of chief of staff John Kelly's deputies late previous year, is expected to be tapped to become the administration's drug czar as early as Friday, two sources with knowledge of the decision told CNN. Kelly - who first learned of the domestic violence allegations against Porter months ago - issued a glowing statement of support for Porter's personal character after the allegations first surfaced publicly Tuesday and privately urged him to remain on the job until the next day when his resignation was announced. 'And there's no tolerance in this White House and no place in America for domestic abuse'. "The truth must be determined, and that was what was going on with Rob Porter". Flynn's security clearance was suspended in February following his firing less than a month into the job amid concerns about his Russian contacts and comments to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, but weeks after the administration reportedly learned of his lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The FBI flagged McGahn six months later. "He did a very good job when he was at the White House".

"While we are all processing the shocking and troubling allegations made against a former White House staffer", Kelly declared.
