Russian plane with 71 on board crashes off Moscow


The An-148 aircraft operated by Saratov Airlines went missing from radar shortly after take-off from the Moscow airport.

The crashed plane was spotted from the air in the countryside near Moscow, a rescue service source told Russia's RIA news agency.

Eyewitnesses in Argunovo said they saw a burning plane falling from the sky.

It is reported to have crashed near Argunovo village in the Moscow region.

Sixty-five passengers and six crew were believed to be onboard.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry said it is trying to verify reports the aircraft has gone down near the Russian capital.

An-148 passenger jetliner crashed near Moscow, in the Ramensky district. "Rescuers have not reached the scene yet", the source said. "Passengers as well as the crew could hardly survive".
