Mahindra EV range leads charge at stall during Auto Expo 2018


The company has priced Comfort E Auto HS at Rs 1.49 lakh (ex showroom Delhi) and comes with facilities such as central locking and Global Positioning System.

The Atom It is powered by Mahindra's new electric Powertrain which features batteries that can be swapped to extend the vehicle's range, allowing it to operate uninterrupted for long hours.

E-vehicles, hybrids and eco- friendly technology took centre stage at the opening day of the biennial Auto Expo, with Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra and new entrant Kia Motors along with luxury vehicle makers Mercedes-Benz and BMW displaying their future products.

The first day of the Auto Expo 2018 saw more than 22 OEMs unveiling 65 products and launching 14 models.

The third vehicle showcased by the company was TVS Zeppelin, a cruiser motorcycle concept of a 220cc engine that will compete with the Xpulse200 that Hero unveiled in the exhibition.

Mahindra also unveiled the e2o NXT at the motor show, which is a refreshed version of the e2oPlus and boasts of a modified exterior and interior as well as a larger infotainment system.

Tata Motors, on the other hand, presented its range of six electric vehicles at the Auto Expo. It h a s also displayed e-KUV100, an electric version of its compact vehicle KUV100, besides e-COSMO electric bus and e2o NXT, which is a refreshed version of its electric small auto e2oPlus. The first was MESMA that will underpin future Mahindra electric vehicles. It is expected to be available in next three to six months.

New start up Menza Motors India's only bootstrap automobile manufacturing start-up unveils the first look of Electric Motorcycle- Menza Lucat which is priced at Rs 2,79,999, ex-showroom, according to a statement here.

The companies are betting big on the growing two wheeler sales in India which now stands at about 20 million per year.

The expo was attended by renowned personalities like Bollywood Actor Shahrukh Khan at Hyundai stand supporting the government's swatch Bharat Campaign, Actress Sonakshi Sinha, Former Indian Captain Mohammed Azhrudin & Cricketer Gautam Gambhir were also spotted at the Auto Expo. "We plan to produce 199 units of Emflux One for Indian market and another 300 for exports", Emflux Motors co-founder and chief designer Vinay Raj Somashekar said.

"Our vision is to transform public transportation by designing, developing, and marketing a breakthrough, India- specific solution that makes our city buses emission-free, cost-effective and scalable", Ashok Leyland Managing Director Vinod K Dasari said.
